Our “Theme Tours” can last for as little as one day!
Our tours are ideal for groups of all types
Our first major Western Approaches theme, is the Port of Liverpool, which in the
18th and 19th centuries was the gateway to the Atlantic ocean and also the main port
closest to Ireland. One of the trade activities that went through Liverpool (and Bristol
also) during this period was an abominable undertaking, THE SLAVE TRADE,
otherwise known as the Triangular Trade.
During the same period Irish emigration was increasing to England due to the poverty
and at times starvation in Ireland, particularly in the 1840’s with the “Great Irish
Famine”. It is estimated that 1.5 million people left Ireland and journey through
Liverpool in search of a better future.
